Victoria, an infamous hacker, teams up with big tech company Strata Inc. to create a powerful virtual reality platform for a worldwide audience.  As users interact with the new VR experiences, they confront online privacy, connection, and security challenges. Now, Victoria must choose: run the multinational ethically, or escape from her own invention.

Strata Inc. is an audio play, available on demand, March 17-20.  Strata Inc. will be enjoyed through a podcast format, totalling three episodes, so you can listen anytime at your convenience.

Strata Inc. was created through the support of the undercurrents under development program.

Bénédicte Bélizaire – Performer  Bénédicte is thankful for her family and friends for their continued support. Gabrielle Lazarovitz – Performer Gabrielle’s an actor, singer, playwright, copywriter, and gordita lover. She’s performed in countless productions, which she’ll spare you the chore of reading about here. By day, she’s an advertising copywriter. By night, a dog smotherer. Prem Anand – Performer Prem is an Ottawa based actor with a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University. He acted in several theatres, and in short films and a feature; he is amazed by how someone on the stage can bring out the emotions within the viewers. Prem continues acting in theatres as he enjoys working in front of a live audience.

Maryse Fernandes – Performer Maryse Fernandes is an Ottawa-based theatre artist who specializes in physical theatre and clown. She attended Canterbury High School’s drama program and went on to train as an actor at the National Theatre School of Canada. Most recently, Maryse has become the third core member of award-winning physical theatre company, Aplombusrhombus.

Matt Hertendy – Performer Matt Hertendy is a theatre artist born and raised in Ottawa. A three time Prix Rideau Award winner, recent shows include Lungs (Cart Before the Horse), Swedish Furniture, Rideshares & Rope Swings, and Boy vs Chair. Matt is one half of Two Kind Boys, co-facilitator of the Emerging Creators Unit, and a dramaturg/playwriting mentor for the Youth Infringement Festival. 

William Beddoe – Performer Recent credits include The Bonds of Interest, The Things We Do For Love (Odyssey Theatre); “2084”, as Dr. Faustus in #faustus (Plan B Productions); Lysistrata, Othello (Theatre Kraken); Cymbeline (Bear & Co.); The Home Show, Insomnia (Evolution Theatre); and Novel House (Black Sheep Theatre). William is an artistic associate of Plan B Productions, and was a founding producer of the Ottawa Fringe Festival.

Will Somers – Performer Will is a theatre creator, performer, and cabinetmaker. Sometimes all at the same time. For starters, he co-created, performed, and toured the heartbreaking comedy for kids that’s not for kids Hootenanny! with Kate Smith, as well as the furniture friendly fan favourite Forstner and Fillister Present: Forstner and Fillister in: Forstner and Fillister with David Benedict Brown and Madeleine Boyes-Manseau.

Johnny Wideman – Creator, Performer & Sound Designer Johnny is a playwright, dramaturg, and actor. He has produced five albums for folk rock band The Shady Js, and records hip-hop under the moniker of Splash Pants. As dramaturg he has worked with 8 playwrights on #ChurchToo for Theatre of the Beat (Canadian & Netherlands tour 2018-19); on Lawrence Aronovitch’s The Auden Test; and at Grand Valley Institute for Women devising The Identity Project.

Megan Piercey Monafu – Creator & Director Megan is a writer, director, facilitator, and producer, who in 2018-2019 was a playwright-in-residence at the Great Canadian Theatre Company and in residence with undercurrents developing Strata Inc. Megan is the founder and artistic director of CSArt Ottawa, an art subscription connecting local artists and audiences. At undercurrents, Megan is also the dramaturg for No More Mr. Rice Guy.

Scout Rexe – Dramaturg Scout Rexe is a playwright, dramaturg, and editor. As a writer, her work explores queer identities, celebrity, sexual violence, and social change. In collaboration, she’s most excited by projects that reckon with complex questions and deeply consider form + content.
