Tita Jokes is a musical comedy revue that centre the Filipin* people in our lives, specifically the female elders we lovingly call Tita. A love letter to our community, the show explores our struggles, heartaches and resiliency, and how we cope through humour, storytelling and song.
Tita Collective is an all-Filipina collective composed of award-winning playwrights, comedians, musicians, dancers, theatre makers and actors. They explore different mediums to tell the stories about the Filipinx diaspora.
We aim to create work that engages, connects and entertains community. Through theatre, comedy, music, and movement, we aspire to tell stories that:
– Thoughtfully honour and celebrate our roots and history
– Explore our identities as Filipinas
– Represent the narratives of the Philippine diaspora in an inclusive and respectful way
– Nurtures and unites community through joy and laughter
Individually, Tita Collective are: Ann Paula Bautista (Peter Pan), Belinda Corpuz (Lady Sunrise), Ellie Posadas (Wexford Plaza), Alia Rasul (Just for Laughs Solo Showcase), and Maricris Rivera (Short Dances).
This show includes fighting (verbal and physical), loud and sudden noises, bright lights and sudden changing lights and audience interaction.

Alia is a Canadian Comedy Award nominated writer/performer. Alia received rave reviews for her performance in Generally Hospital whose “outstanding ensemble” won Patron’s Pick and the David Séguin Memorial Award. She understudied for Second City’s Mainstage show, She The People. She graduated from the Second City Conservatory and is a NBCUniversal Bob Curry Fellowship alumni. She made her directorial debut with Kwento, an improvised Filipino folktale.
Ann Paula Bautista
Ann Paula is a Filipina-Canadian actor, singer, and writer. A graduate of Randolph Academy’s College program, she has performed on stages all around Canada and the US. Past credits include: Peter Pan (Badhats), Aqsarniit (Charlottetown Fest), Disenchanted 1st National tour (Starvox), We Will Rock You, Avenue Q (STF), and In the Heights (We Are Here Prod).
Belinda Corpuz is a Filipina-Canadian actor, vocalist, musician, and creator. Her EP, All I Am, has garnered national radio-play. Music credits include: In the Tall Grass (Netflix), and Tanya Tagaq’s Retribution. She holds a BMus in Performance – Jazz Voice from the University of Toronto. Selected Theatre: Lady Sunrise (Factory), Hilot Means Healer (Cahoots/bcurrent), Prairie Nurse (Factory/Thousand Islands Playhouse) Selected Film: Lola’s Wake (Canadian Film Centre), Jezebel (Reel Asian).
Ellie Posadas is a Filipina- Canadian, Actor, Singer, and Creator from Toronto. Ellie was featured in the 2021 TIFF Official Selection film ‘Scarborough’, the 34th TFF Official Selection film, ‘Wexford Plaza’ (CAAMfest, Slamdance) and in the short film ‘The Morning After’ (Toronto ‘Inside OUT’ Festival, Los Angeles ‘OUT fest’). Selected Theatre Credits include: The Penelopiad (Hart House), Emily & EV (Nöta Collective), Silenced (HERstory Counts).
Maricris Rivera is a Filipina-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, producer and educator. She co-produced Short Dances and has collaborated with many dance companies, including Rock Bottom Movement and TOES FOR DANCE. She also plays with her band, Understudy, and is planning on releasing a solo EP in the future. Selected theatre: Tale of a Town (FIXT Point), The Renaissance Woman (BOSS Dance Company), Lily (In’Trinzik Dance Project).
